At ComPrint Solutions, we provide HP laser printers, plus many
other other laser printer brands to the corporate community in
Alberta.
The
black and white laser printer product segment has undergone tremendous
change since 2000. Newer laser printers are much faster, have
better paper handling and improved resolution. This black and
white laser printer segment can be subdivided into three classes:
personal printers (for one person), workgroup printers (used by
4-6 people) and departmental/enterprise printers (for use by 10
or more).
Personal Laser Printer
Personal laser printers typically have speeds of up to 19 ppm and have a resolution of up to
1,200 dpi. Prices for laser printers in this printer group range from $800 to $1,500. Most of
the time these printers are connected directly to a single computer.
Workgroup Laser Printer
Workgroup laser printers are connected to a corporate network,
are designed to support 4-6 people and range in price from $1,500
to $5,000. Workgroup laser printers are becoming increasingly
popular. Some support 11"x17" printing and operate at 19 to 30
ppm at 1,200 dpi, with a duty cycle of 35,000 to 150,000 pages
per month.
Departmental/Enterprise Laser Printer
Departmental/enterprise laser printers are durable machines that
have speeds of 31 to 49 ppm at 1,200 dpi and duty cycles of 75,000
to 200,000 pages a month. Typically, this class of laser printer
is used by 10 or more people on a network, and provides more advanced
features such as large capacity trays and double-sided printing.
A few years ago enterprise laser printers did not even exist,
but with lower prices and better features, they have become widely
available. Prices range from $2,500 to $6,000.
