Success Stories

Our customers use our print solutions in a large variety of ways. Here are a few of the ways ComPrint Solutions has worked with customers to improve their businesses.

Encana
Industry: Oil and Gas
Employees: 6,000+
Devices: 1,600+
Challenge:
Color printers were printing only black. Regardless of the driver or settings for a print job, all output was black.
Solution:
A vendor had recently upgraded Encana's driver for the digital copiers in the organization. This driver had written over all .ini files, causing color to print as black. Once the driver and offending files were removed the HP 4600 or Xerox 7700 driver was reloaded, and all print problems were corrected.

Totem Building Supplies
Industry: Retail Building Supplies
Employees: 850
Devices: 25+
Challenge:
Totem was spending a lot of time and money purchasing indoor and outdoor signage.
Solution:
Totem purchased an HP 2500CP plotter. By using UV ink and an overlaminate paper, they now produce their own signs and posters. Cost has decreased and productivity increased as a result.

Nova Chemicals
Industry: Manufacturing
Employees: 4,700+
Devices: 200+
Challenge:
Nova Chemicals was spending a great deal of time servicing their printer fleet. They needed to reduce the number of end user calls.
Solution:
By using ComPrint's service with a regular Preventative Maintenance program, service calls dropped by over 50% and end user satisfaction improved.

Thackary Burgess
Industry: Law
Employees: 60+
Devices: 20+
Challenge:
Thackary Burgess is focused on providing top legal services to their clients. Law firms tend to use a great deal of paper and supplies, in turn requiring a significant investment of time in managing supplies. Thackaray Burgess wanted to minimize the amount of time spent on supplies administration and looked to ComPrint for a solution.
Solution:
Thackary Burgess now uses ComPrint's On-Site Supplies Management service to procure and administer supplies related to printing and copying. Using this service, Thackary Burgess no longer needs to be concerned with inventory levels, returns, or returning empty toner cartridges. An inventory specialist manages the entire process on a pre-scheduled basis ensuring the firm is never out of stock.

Suncor
Industry: Oil and Gas
Employees: 3,500
Devices: 300+
Challenge:
Suncor had some old, defective printers creating some very unhappy users. Printers would freeze on the network with no way to cancel these jobs. These printers were no longer supported by the manufacturer.
Solution:
ComPrint organized an exchange for Suncor. The old printers were removed and new ones installed at no charge to the customer. ComPrint later repeated this process with other customers who had similar problems. The result: some very happy clients. These customers continue to use the replacement printers with no problems.

Bridgewater Financial Services
Industry: Financial Services
Employees: 50
Devices: 6
Challenge:
Bridgewater's main Calgary office serves as the centralized location for all Western Canadian satellite offices to fax mortgage applications for processing. After processing, a multi-step process involving a number of different people, applications are faxed back to the satellite office. In essence, fax is the primary method of inter-office communication. As a result, the Calgary fax machine was always congested, resulting in a bottleneck for both incoming and outgoing transmissions. As the fax machine in the Calgary office was in constant use, it required higher than normal maintenance. Moreover, the combined congestion and downtime resulted in a slower approval process for mortgages.
Solution:
ComPrint deployed 6 individual Panafax UF-890 fax machines and distributed these throughout the office, closest to the people using them. This has resulted in an increased number of incoming and outgoing faxes, higher employee productivity and faster mortgage approval times.

Cost Efficient Benefit Plan
Industry: Financial
Employees: 2
Devices: 1
Challenge:
This small business outsourced their color marketing documents, which totaled 800 pages per month and resulted in 8 hours of down-time while waiting on print-jobs to complete (8 hrs per run = 4 business days per month). Outsourcing these print-jobs at $0.40/page resulted in a monthly 'hard' cost of $320.00/month. Moreover, the 4 days per month of wait-time resulted in an added labor 'soft' cost of 1,280.00/month. The total cost-per-month was $1,600.00.
Solution:
ComPrint positioned an on-site color printing solution capable of producing production quality color graphics for a budget of $3,500.00 or less, and a cost-per-page better than $0.40/page. Specifically, ComPrint positioned a Phaser 8200DP at a cost of $2,995.00 and a cost-per-page of just $0.18/page. On-site positioning of this 16 ppm printer resulted in a total monthly print time of just 50 minutes. The new cost-per-month was $184.00, lowering costs by over 89% !

Enerplus
Industry: Financial
Employees: 750
Devices: 100+
Challenge:
Enerplus outsourced the production of shareholder reports to a third party. The cost of this limited run was very expensive, and Enerplus was looking at ways to decrease the cost.
Solution:
ComPrint provided Enerplus with an HP 8550 to produce shareholder reports on-demand. This significantly reduced production costs, as well as adding a new printing resource that could be used for other purposes.
